On May 7th 2006, at the International Buddhist Temple in New Hartford, our community had in
its 4th annual retreat with 38 participants from all regions of Connecticut. This retreat was organized and lead by BFF
senior dharma teacher G.R. Lewis.
This retreat offered Kripalu Style yoga by the certified instructor, Ms. Gerri Landau; then,
lead by G.R. Lewis, there was quiet meditation sitting and walking instruction and practice, quiet mindfulness lunch with delicious
home-made Korean food. In the afternoon, there was a deep and emotional discussion on life and death, and the current of the
Universal Vow and the nembutsu.
Also, the retreat had a wonderful multi-media presentation by Mr. Eli Williamson Jones on Integral
Buddhism and an equally professional voice meditation instruction and practice by Ms. Juliane Dean, culminating with the chanting
of Om Mani Padme Hum, the prayer of compassion for 25 minutes.
We would like to offer our sincere gratitude for the wonderful Korean nun and monk who, with so much
love, prepared the incredible lunch. Also, a special thanks to Banya Sumin for his help in the retreat's organization.
