Bathing the Baby Buddha with sweet tea

FLOWER FESTIVAL: "Hana Matsuri" in Japanese. This is one of the most important Buddhist holidays is celebrated by our Shin community on April 10th; Flowers Festival celebrates the birth of the historical Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, in India over 2, 600 years ago. The BFF Friends bring flowers as an offering to the baby Buddha and participate in the washing the Baby Buddha Ceremony, using sweet tea.

This Family Event: this special event is for the entire family. Kids love to hear the Nativity Story and bathe the baby Buddha.

In Addition, Hana Matsuri is the anniversary of the BFF community. On Hana-Matsuri 2001, G.R. Lewis, our Senior Facilitator, founded the BFF community in his apartment in Bristol, Connecticut. At the time, it was the first Shin Buddhist community in the State of Connecticut. Therefore, this year the Friends had a 4th Year Sangha Anniversary Party, celebrating both the birth of Prince Siddhartha and our unique Shin sangha, at the Taj Indian Restaurant, on Main Street, Middletown. The food and music was wonderful.
